Wireless display?

I noticed there is a new technology called intel wireless display that allows to wirelessly connect an intel laptop to a TV to output a video signal. But what about people who do not own one of those new laptops or want to connect their non-internet-ready TV to a desktop PC, or laptop? Are there any other, perhaps cheaper options?

I did some research and I cannot find anything other than myriad video streaming devices, which is off course not what I am looking for. Perhaps I am missing something that's out there?

If the TV has no ethernet port than you're out of luck,you will have to resort to a
Wireless Audio Video Transmitter, otherwise search for "wireless bridge" on your favorite search engine...
