Is there any program out there that will test the speed of the connection between my laptop and my wireless router? I'm having some strange speed problems where I can connect just fine, but only get about 100Kb/s (when if I plug in direct to the same router I get the full speed of my cable modem connection, ~3200Kb/s). It's a D-link Di-524. Thanks.

Welcome to the network Forum.

So you already know that your Wireless Speed is about 100Kb/sec. you do not need any other program you need to fix it (there is No program thta would tell you what is wrong with your Wireless Devices).

You can start by placing the Laptop next to the Router and see what you get when you disable security and specail filters, making sure that the Wireless TC/IP parametrs are optimized.

What i wanted to do was isolate whether it was my internet connection (e.g. cable modem --> wireless router) or my own connection to my router (e.g. wireless router --> laptop). but, ended up it was my driver - i did the usual uninstall/reinstall and it appears to be working. Now i'm trying to network a couple of laptops on the network. Thanks for the link.

I am also looking for a good "link test" program. I am currently ronning 802.11b with an Netgear MR814v2 and an Orinoco Silver PC card. The Orinoco came with a utility suite which includes a 'link test" which works great. I just tried switching over to a Netgear WGR614 g router, but could not get link test to work. tried everything including running in "b mode only" Still would not work. So I am trying to find a replacement prgram.
