Wireless Connection Speed

I'm only getting 1 mbps with a Netgear WPN824. It's set to B and G and I'm using a Linksys USB G access point. With my previous router, a Linksys, I had no problem getting at least 11 mbps. The Netgear is a 108 Mbps MIMO with extended rage. I don't know why I would get less connectivity with this router. The signal-to-noise ratio is even better with the netgear router, but I can't get higher than 1 mpbs. When I first installed the router I got around 34 mpbs.. no I can't.

Any suggestions? (i know about EM interference, but given that it was fine initially, I don't think this was the case...)

its possible that the router is setup to only connect at 1mbps. Check the config !!

the config doesnt let you choose the speed-only the type (B, G or Auto 108MIMO).
Other computers and laptops connect to this router fine at 54 mbps or less.
