Wireless connection problem

I need some help. I set up a Network Everywhere wireless router and plugged in my desktop into it via and eithernet cable. I then put a Siemens PCI wireless card in my laptop. I set them up and got everything to work fine. Occasionally, I'll get a message on my desktop toolbar saying something like there is an error with multiple access to the IP address. Following this, my laptop won't connect anymore... When I do an IPCONFIG, I have 2 different IP addresses on my 2 machines. I also seem to have a problem if I haven't used the laptop for 30 minutes or so. I can't seem to get a connection even though I see my wireless router using Network Stumbler - I just can't seem to connect anymore. I have to reboot both machines and reset both the router and the cable modem.

Thanks in advance.
