Wireless connection problem

I just upgraded a computer with a new motherboard and cpu. After installing Win XP,I can't get the WLAN card to connect.Networking is admittedly my weak spot when it comes to PCs.Here's what I'm using:

Foxconn 760GXK8MC-RS motherboard
AMD Sempron 2800+ cpu
1 GB(2x512 MB) PNY DDR 400 RAM
Geforce FX 5200 PCI video card
Soundblaster Live PCI sound card
D-Link AirPlus DWL-520+ PCI WLAN card
Win XP Home w/SP2
WD 40 GB HD
Floppy
CDROM
2Wire HomePortal 1000 SW DSL modem/wireless gateway

The motherboard is a Micro ATX board with 3 PCI slots.I don't believe it's a conflict issue.I've tried all 3 slots with the card.I've tried using an AGP video card.Device manager doesn't show a problem with the WLAN card.No matter what I do,I can't get a connection.I've tried calling D Link and AT&T without success.I'm planning on calling Foxconn tomorrow, though I don't expect much help from them.I've tried letting Windows configure the card, and I've tried doing it myself. The modem is working fine, wireless and regular LAN.Any help would be appreciated.I'm going crazy trying to connect online.Thanks.

So I guess that is the trial and error work of the day!

Do you see the Wireless Card installed correctly in the Device Manger?

I had already disabled the onboard lan in the bios.As far as D.M.,it shows just fine,no conflicts.Foxconn was no help either.I've screwed with the settings till I'm blue in the face. I would hate to have someone come take a look at it.I've never been stopped by a computer problem in 11 years, but I'm willing to admit when I'm stumped.I even tried a spare card of the same type,no luck.

Describe in detail what you mean by "it can't connect"

What are you using for wireless connectivity? Windows zero config or a client utility? Try the client utility.

Next, take all security off the router/access point and enable SSID broadcast - make it wide open and try to associate with the access point and get an IP address. Make sure to disconnect the router/ap from any wired devices during this test otherwise people WILL attach to your network.

-edit-
And don't worry about being stumped. Networking involves an entirely different thought and troubleshooting process than PCs. First one being - stop playing with settings (especially if you don't know what they do) and simplify the scenario as best as possible.

Well you might want to go back ward.

I.e. take the Wireless LAN out enable the Omboard LAn card and comfigure the Networking.

If it works, reinsert the WLAN and try again.

On a good working system the on Board LAN and the WLAN can be live together it should not be a problem.

Thought I'd get back here and post finally.I didn't do exactly what you said Spidey, but you gave me an idea.I reset all the modem defaults and tried to connect that way.It worked great then. After making sure all computers could connect,I reset all the modem settings to where they were before I had the problem. Now all the comps around here work fine. Thanks for the input,it really helped me out.
