My neighbor and I are trying to get a wireless network between our two houses in order to share files, play games, etc. I tested my laptop from his computer room and receive a signal just fine but there have been problems ever since we installed his WMP54G card.
I have a WRT54G v6, firmware 1.01.1 on my side which is connected to the a Webstar cable modem via ethernet, my main comp via ethernet, and laptops via wireless-G.
My neighbor is using a WMP54G pci-card, dunno the firmware or version#, and can see my network, connect, etc.
The problem is everytime his computer, an HP Pavilion 700, connects to my networks there is a chance for the router to reset. It has been happening more often recently and renders both his connection useless, and drops my PC from the internet.
We (and my laptops) should be the only ones using the connection as the SSID is not broadcast and I have a personal WEP key (not the "easy" setup by Linksys)...so it seems that only his computer is giving me problems.
I have the default software installed for his WMP54G and am just clueless about why we are having so many dropouts. And why it's causing my own router to reset everytime his PC is requesting an IP...
Thanks for the help if you have any 😛
