Wireless cards wont stay connected

I'm running the wireless network for my house (5 people) with a Netgear WGT624 108Mbps 802.11g router. it worked flawlessly for 2 months, even through a firmware upgrade for all 4 wireless computers.

all of a sudden, the two computers upstairs (both with Linksys WMP11 PCI-adapters) wont stay connected.

the two computers on the same floor as me both have wireless G adapters, one USB and the other PCI, and continue to operate perfectly.

I have not changed any router settings, and both of the problem computers had not made any hardware or significant software changes prior to the sudden problem. (one has recently installed sp2, but had no problems for 2 weeks--and then both of them stopped working)

any ideas on why the cards would suddenly stop working?

the router has remained in the same position and the network is clearly working fine for other users.

if no settings changed, then either its hardware failure on the router (not likely), or its something outside of the network. maybe one of your neighboors baught a new appliance (wireless phone perhaps?) that is interfearing with your network. Try changing the channel of your network.

changing the channel didnt help (i had tried before), and as I said, no settings were changed.

I DID fix the problem by changing the preamble on the router from Auto to Long... thought Auto should have accepted both short and long, and it DID for 2 months... so i have no idea why the heck it wouldnt anymore.

in any case, its fixed finally. thanks for the input.
