Weird problem I'm having, can't figure it out.

Wireless network set up, main computer hardwired. Laptop normally access my D-link router wirelessly. Laptop is a sony Vaio with one of the intel pro 2200bg cards built into it.

Used to work fine, until just this morning. I haven't changed anything to my knowledge - but here's whats going on.

The wireless card picks up my wireless network just fine (and sometimes the neighbors which are secured). When I try to connect it fails to connect stating ' Windows is unable to connect to the selected network. Network may not be in range please refresh blahblah'.

When I try to repair the network connection it says ' windows could not finish reparing because it could not disable the wireless network adapter. Make sure adapter is installed properly.

When I try to disable the adapter it says It is not possible to disable connection. Connection may be using one or more protocols that do not support plug and play, or it may have been initiated by another user on the system account.

Ive tried uninstalling in device manager and reinstalling - no good. Updated drivers - no good.

Doing a full format is of last resort. Ran Virus Scanner/Spyware and laptop is clean of anything major.

Laptop works fine when I hardwire it with the ethernet cable. Im really lost as to what else to try right now. Very odd problem, any advice would be greatly appreciated.

try the proset software like weaver said.

if its still a no go, pull the card from its slot and reinstall it.

Its built in, and I don't think the intel software will help. As Im having problems with my other desktop accessing it wireless as well. So basically the wired portion of the router works fine, wireless is not working.

Thoughts?

Try using the intel client. Or possibly your wireless router decided to change settings.

So removing all security and using the intel client. That reduces it to about as fool proof as possible.

I think the router went bad. I switched to a linksys router and all works well now. Odd problem, not sure why it would work hardwired but not wireless

/me shrugs.

Thanks for the advice though guys.

I know it's resolved, but please....if you want help, at least do what we ask/listen. I hate the "I don't think you know what you are talking about so I'm just going to ignore what you say" type posters.
