Wireless card for a linksys

JD50

I have a linksys BEFW11S4 802.11b broadband router, what kind of wireless card do I need for my computer?

Any wireless B specification card should be fine. I personally recommend grabbing a USB unit as they tend to have better sensitivity for picking up distant access points. This is especially handy if the distances in your house WAP setup are going to be long and far apart.

See if you can't pick up a cheap Linksys WUSB11 card somewhere in the FS/FT forums. G cards will work fine too, but won't give you 54Mbps speeds; only the 11Mbps rates. Seeing as G is flying off right now, you might be able to get them cheaper than their B counterparts!

Good luck!

if you want cheap wireless card to work with BEFW11S4 router (I had one before now WRT54G) you can buy Airlink+ wireless card B or G I tried both Airlink+ cards (current own Airlink+ G card) and they worked GREAT with both linksys routers. I bought for less than 10 buck on sale. Lucky me 🙂

Airlink+

Thanks for the info, I just ordered the Airlink USB for $20. Before I posted here I was ready to buy a linksys PCI wireless adapter for $100, this forum is great.
