My roommate and I are trying to link up each other's wireless router through WDS. Both of our room has a WAN port to talk to the outside, so we want to keep our internet traffic separate. We just want to bridge our LAN together so that I can print stuff of his printer and we can play Xbox360 over LAN. Here's the proposed layout:
------ Room 1 ----------------------------------------------------- Room 2 -------
(WAN) ---> Linksys WRT54G <--------- WDS --------> Airlink AR430w/Buffalo WHR <---------(WAN)
------ (His own LAN) -------------------------------------------- (My own LAN) -----
Both of our routers have DD-WRT installed. Here's what I think the IP settings should be:
Room 1:
IP Range - 192.168.1.2-125 / 255.255.255.0
His stuff should connect to Gateway - 192.168.1.1 ( His router's LAN IP)
Room 2:
IP Range - 192.168.1.127-254 / 255.255.255.125
My stuff should connect to Gateway - 192.168.1.126 (My Router's LAN IP)
Is this even possible? My gut feeling tells me that the LAN would work, but there's no way to separate the WAN connection.
