I've been wanting to install a backup camera for a while now, but the challenge has always been figuring out a clean way to run the wiring from the back of the car to the dash area, without breaking off trim pieces in the process. Lately, I noticed that there are wireless dash cam kits which use a 2.4 GHz transmitter to avoid any cabling hassle. There are also wireless video transmitter/receiver kits available which allow you to use any LCD screen and rear camera.

Here's an example. This one's pretty cheap-looking, but I've seen some higher-end options, even from big-names like Garmin (BC 30 wireless backup camera).

Anyone install one of these before?

We purchased a Garmin version of this to tie into a Garmin GPS system for a large vehicle (think rv). I didn't install it as you've got to tap into the wiring for the reverse lights, but work had someone do it pretty quickly for not a lot.

It works pretty well actually. Just have the GPS device on and when you put the vehicle in reverse it detects the signal somehow and flips into camera mode. The quality isn't amazing (I think it was a BC 10, so that might be why, or the GPS LCD screen may be low res), but it works and is pretty useful. We haven't used it a ton, but so far no problems with it. It's also transmitting about 15-20ft of that helps.
