Wireless Area Connection

i'm trying to install an airlink wireless pci adapter. my xp will not let me create a wireless area connection. i've gone to the control panel and tried to create on but it walks me through the whole set up process but no icon ever shows up.

the pci adapter is working fine. in the services.msc, the wireless zero configuration is set to automatic. so the adapter is reading the wlan.

i don't know why xp isn't letting me create a connection.

btw, i don't have service pack 2 on this computer.

Couple of things, just as an FYI since you got it working. No such animal as a wireless area connection. You had it right in your second paragraph. WLAN. Wireless Local area connection. THere is also Wireless Wide area connection but that is long distance shots.

You should also install sp2. Much better WZC and really no reason not to unless it breaks your box, which would be uncommon.
