Wireless and wired?

I'm finishing up a new build. The ASUS P8Z77-V Pro has both a wired and wireless card. I connect to the internet using the wired connection. I have a printer that I can connect to either way. Is there any advantage to connecting to it using the wireless? Is there any reason to use the wireless sinec I have the wired connection?

I don't know if there's an advantage or not, I'm assuming it'll just get the msg to print faster while being wired. I personally have my pc connected to my printer wireless. Only because I have 3 other pc's in the home also connected to it wirelessly. I don't notice a difference either way so I just went with a wireless setup to avoid all the cables.

I can't see any advantage either way as far as the printer is concerned, but there could be for the PC depending on the router being used. If you have a wireless N router with 10/100 wired, then wireless should have higher throughput. If you have gigabit ports, then wired would be faster. Neither will matter, though, if you never transfer data between PCs, at which point latency will be the primary difference.

If you have any think else Wireless on the network, then right click and disable the Wireless NIC and keep it there dormant for special occasions.

Wired > Wireless. Use wired when you can.
