Two computers in an office are using wireless to get internet access. They can also talk to each other through homegroup or network sharing over wireless. When moving some 500 meg files between the two computers, it takes quite a while (they are wireless...so back to the router and then to the other machine and are slowed down by the weakest link, right?)
What happens if those two computers are also connected to each other with a switch between them...but the switch is not connected to anything else on the LAN. Would they continue to get the internet on the their wireless card and also talk to each other over the wired? The wireless would hand out the ip address, would the wired connection allow them to talk directly to each other for transferring large files?
Thanks for the help. I'm trying to help a friend solve it without running cabling through their old house.
