Wireless adhoc mode?

One of our dlink usb adapters broke and we can't find a replacement for it in any stores. Would the adhoc mode work the same with a different usb wireless adaptor or not? I'm usin the Dlink dwl-120 USB adapters right now. 802.11 standard.

Should. As long as it is 802.11b. The standard says it'll work. In practice you just have to try it to find out. I am using a Netgear USB Wi-Fi adapter in ad hoc mode with a Cisco 340 card. Besides the terrible range of the Netgear product it works well.
