i have a WRT54G servicing two laptops in my dorm room, one running Vista business and one running XP pro. Anyway, every time the vista machine is rebooted, it refuses to initiate the wireless adapter, and i have to go to the device manager and uninstall it. it is automatically detected and reinstalled (thanks vista) but that obviously doesn't solve my problem. any suggestions? the error log claims something about the device driver failing to load...adapter is a Intel Pro Wireless 3945ABG in a Travelmate 8200.

You didn't mention what wireless adapter the machine is using, but I suggest uninstalling it and any associated programs (many of them come with their own wifi managers, you want Vista to handle it) then manually installing just a driver for it - use a 2K/XP driver and force/point it to the extracted driver (using Device Manager). This seems likely to be a driver issue and that's worth trying, and I assume you went for the newest Vista driver, so this is another option.

OP updated, and i'm just using vista for wireless config. i'll give the other drivers a try.
