Wireless Adapter

I have a SMC 802.11b wireless router and I want to purchase a SMC wire adapter. Now, I'm confused in which one to purchase.

1) Adapter 1

2) Adapter 2

2 is 802.11g. It'll work with your setup. 1 has a better antenna.

Adpater 2 is both b/g. Would that be a problem with my router, which is b only? I'm sure these cards can run in b only mode, no? I'm a little confused because if I get a new router in the future, I would want g compatibility. If I get the b only card, i'm out of luck. However, I want that extended antenna.

Unless you intend to buy a new Router within few weeks buy the cheapest.

There are PCI Wireless adaptors on sale for $10.

There are similar Antennae for $10 too.

802.11g Wireless client works with 802.11b Router

At the moment it does not matter what you buy the cheapest.

BTW for $46 you can buy a New Combo 802.11g Router Card.
