Wireless adapter troubles

I've had this wireless adapter from Linksys for quite some time now. From what I read it works great with the RangePlus router (WRT110), which is exactly what I have. This wireless card is not but 30 feet away from the router (through a wall, no electrical interference between the distance). It performs flawlessly except on one front--when ever I play a video game online the connection decides to randomly drop out for moments at a time. Usually the ping increases at an alarming rate, which follows a connection drop. Strangely enough when I alt + tab out of the program and back into it my connection problems are solved (until, of course, a couple of minutes later when the problem persists).

As I said, this only happens when I play a video game online (doesn't matter which one--any of them provide the same result). My Windows firewall is not up. I'm currently running the manufacturer's release of Windows 7. Any ideas that might not be program/compatibility related?
