Wireless adapter for long range

I know very little about network and I need to get a PCI Express x1 wireless adapter for a computer I am building for my daughter.

Her condo is about 35 - 40 feet long with 4 walls between her router and the room where the computer will be located. I need a wireless adapter that can work reliably from such distance. Speed is not important as the computer will be used mainly to surf the web and transfer 5 - 10 pages Word documents.

Which PCI Express x1adapter should I get?

Her router will be an ASUS RT-N56U.

I don't think it'll matter which adapter you get, almost any will do, its the router that does most of the work. I have the same one and while its a great router for its price bracket there are a few places in the house that have pretty spotty reception, still able to surf but at a few mbps.
Perhaps a powerline kit will be a better alternative, what kind of wifi speeds is she getting on her phone now?
