Wireless: ad-hoc settings "You might not have permission to use this network" message

I go to my Compaq My Network Places, try to open a folder on the other(Toshiba) pc and get this message

Toshiba is not accessible", You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions.
The Network path was not found

I have a Siemens speedstream USB Wireless Adapter ss1022
I have a Siemens speedstream Wireless Cardbus. ss1021
I called siemens Tech support, they got the sw installed, but would not answer any XP "networking questions"

I connect with a crossover cable and have success connecting these two computers. I can transfer files 🙂 I have networked these two pc's before using cat5.
What settings are different using the wireless and local area connections?

I can see the speedstream wireless lan utilty on both pc's in the tray. Desktop reports signal strenght is good when I do a site survey. No such message on the Toshiba

What changes(settings) in wireless and local area connection?

I have disabled the local area connection in both pc's

thanks all

Do you mean ad-hock settings?

yes
Yeah, sorry, that's what I meant. Here's a good article (ignore the fact that it was written by someone's grandma 😉) on ad-hoc connections.
