My brother and I have recently started playing multiplayer games somewhat often. I have tried with both a Belkin 3port wireless router and a Linksys 4port wireless router and they both have this problem.
My computer is on the router and I get 0 lag with the linksys and 1 second lag once in a while (about every minute) with the Belkin router when playing UT2k3 online.
My brother's computer is using a Netgear (also tried with SMC and got the same problem) USB 802.11b adapter about 20ft away through 2 walls. He gets lagspikes every minute or so - and his game basically pauses for a second or two. He's getting frustrated as hell - especially when he gets railed or a headshot while he can do nothing.
This problem didn't exist when I had a dedicated access point bridge just for his computer to my router. (two Dlink access points connected to my Linksys router) But, I got rid of it because it was expensive and it had a way of goofing up every few weeks or so - and those damn Dlink access points took forever to configure as a bridge.
Is there any way to get rid of the lagspikes? Otherwise, I will need to buy another access point and dedicate it to his computer.
