Amazon has a bunch of USB 360 wireless adapters in a range of prices, none that I can find made by Microsoft, and all some third party chinese brand. Anyone have better luck with one over another or what should I know before I order one?

I have both, both work fine, no issues on either one.

AFAIK, Microsoft stopped selling official wireless adapters for the 360 controller. But as mentioned above, the generic ones should work fine.

The one you linked does not have the PC receiver. It is a Xbox 360 controller bundled with a charger.

The wireless Xbox 360 controller with a PC receiver it is sold in a red box (like this one). Be careful because the "PC version" of the wired Xbox 360 controller is also sold in a red box. The Xbox 360 versions of the controller are sold in a green/white box (and the wireless one does not include the PC receiver). The controller itself is the same (PC/Xbox 360 versions).

The original Microsoft PC receiver has "Microsoft" written on it.

The Chinese PC receivers that I saw have "Xbox 360" written on them.

I did not see the receiver in the pictures from your link. Only some charger kit. But I see now that the charger kit was listed under "Frequently Bought Together" and was not part of the product from your link.

Your part number JR9-00011 seems to be correct for a version with PC receiver. I have one Xbox 360 controller with PC receiver, with part number JR9-00010.

+1 to what someone said before - just grab one from newegg that comes with the controller. If youre cool with possibly having to mess with it a little bit, then pick up the knockoff.

I havent tried it even with my official, but im guessing getting it to work on mac or linux would probably be easier with the official as well.

As a side note - if you have a broken 360 sitting around, Ive heard you can make your own if you are into that sort of thing. Edit: heres a video http://youtu.be/Ic7YPR1YJbM
