wireless 2200BG problems in laptop

Hi, I have an Acer laptop, that came with a built-in intel 2200BG wlan adapter, and it has worked fine, but lately I noticed something, I was at my girlfriends place, and they do not have a Wlan there, for some or another reason this reeeeally confuses the network adapter, because windows just plain hangs after I enter my password, after about a minute or two the boot process continues about normally and my desktop shows up and I can begin to work.

now I noticed that if I set my wlan radio to start in the off position (a function of the notebook keyboard control software) that I also get that massive startup delay.

I assume the delay is caused because windows searches for a network but cant find any, because when I disable the wlan adapter everything works fine (instead of just disabling the radio) and if I leave it enabled in an area where it can find a wlan it's also fine.

this startup delay is very, very annoying, and I wondered if anyone has a solution for this (a lower timeout for the wlan search or something like that)

I'll come back with more info later on (going to restore it back to the original installation once I have my current status in a ghost image)

thanks for any help you can give !

problem is solved already, hehe, I had disabled the windows Wireless zero configuration service because I use the intel drivers for my card, but appearently this caused the aforemented problems.
