Just started to install my new case fans 3 120mm 2 sunon 1 Y.S tech. and i was wounderin they come with a 3 pin connecto. i know its bad to put them on the mobo cause they draw to much power. so im connectim them to the PS. anyway was wounderin if i dont cut the White cord which i beleive is the one that lets the RPMs be monitered right? i can leave that pluged into the mobo right so i can still see how fast its runnin?

Ill get pics of this up when its finished

I wouldn't count on running one wire into the mobo to work. Try a Digital Doc to monitor your fans that are too power hungry for the mobo. Here's a link to see it. :p

I have no first hand experience with connecting only the RPM sensing wire only to the mobo, while the power and ground wires are connected to a power supply plug, but I have seen many posts to these forums and other forums by modders who did it successfully! I have seen connector harnesses for such a connection available at more than just a few cooling websites.
DigiDoc is {IMHO} a better solution when a modder has an available 5.25 external bay.

Yes, you can just hook up the RPM sensor. But it'd seem like a waste of a header.
