Looking to setup my house for internet access. I have a main/gaming rig and HTPC that I hard wire and my gf requires wireless access for internet/school etc.

I have Turbo from TimeWarner - 20 mbps

What is my best route? Wireless N router - hardwire items through this?

Benefit of gigabit switch?

Gigabyte is very good but in order to work both the Computers and the Switch have to be Giga capable.

There are Wireless Router that have Giga switch build in.

Dual Band Wireless is the way to go Wireless.

Money is Not an issue. Asus RT-N66U -RT-N66U

Best value for the price. Cisco E4200 refurb.

I want sub $100 and new (I am allergic to refurb.) Buffalo WZR-HP-AG300H

All the above are Dual Radio, Giga Switch, and has USB port for NAS.

They are very good with their stock firmware but also can be flashed with DD-WRT in case that special additional features are needed.

I want less expensive good Wireless and Giga, but I do not care about Dual Radio and NAS.

Buffalo WZR-HP-G300NH, currently $47 after Rebate.

I want to spend less and do not care about Giga, and NAS, but need good Wireless.

This is decent Wireless Router with Dual radio.

Cisco E2500 refurb. $35.

Ideally you'd like to have gigabit for all wired desktops as well as 300Mbps wifi for wireless Internet for your gf's laptop.

You could do all of it with a wireless router that has a built-in 4-port gigabit switch(D-Link Wireless N750 for example), or you could mix a wireless router with a small gigabit switch such as TRENDNet's TEG-S50G 5-port gigabit switch.

I'd probably go with the standalone switch to get better quality and lower power use.
