Wired Vs Wireless mouse for gaming

Ok guys, so i want to buy a new mouse. I have always used a wireless mouse, and i am pretty accustomed to the freedom i get, no tugging on cables for slack, no pesky cables getting in the way, etc. I have a pretty unique setup, i have my mouse and keyboard on 2 TV trays, bout 4 feet from the wall where my 32 inch monitor is mounted. my computer is on the floor, between the trays and the wall. I really want to get the new razer naga, as i love to play MMOs, and i would definately find those key bindings useful, but i am an avid FPS fan, and i need my speed as well. Im willing to change the setup in my room, put the monitor back on a desk and mabey that would cancel my wire concerns, or i could go with Razers wireless gaming mouse, which has the same response time and DPI settings as the naga, minus the extra keys. What do you guys think i should do?

With the proper mouse cable management, I don't tug on mouse cable unless I accidentally set something on top of it.

Having to put up with batteries for a mouse that I will use on a desktop isn't appealing to me: I'd hate the extra weight.

I have a G7 and it's great for gaming and other high resolution mouse work (Inventor/AutoCad). Any 'gaming' grade wireless mouse will have a removable battery pack of some sort I suspect. The G7 has a li-ion battery so it's pretty light as well.

I perfer wired. No need to worry about changing batteries, interfeerence (don't think that's usually an issue mind you) etc.

Oh and security. It's aparantly not hard to fetch the signal of a wireless keyboard or mouse or even write to it. Maybe it's gotten better now.

I've always preferred wired. That being said, I tried the MS Sidewinder X8 and liked it. Has a "play and charge" setup so you can just plug it in without having to wait a few hours or swap batteries.

I use a wired mouse as well.
I don't ever have to tug on it either, as another poster mentioned with proper cable management you don't need to. I also can't help but notice most cable tugging issues was around the time when the cable was rubber, now most gaming mice are nylon...

My mouse cord is rubber, nevertheless I have no issue.

Wireless G7, the bets mouse ever made. @ battery packs, so no waiting for charging or finding AAs. Awesome DPI, and never had interference problems, or noticeable input lag.

I would steer clear of wireless mice. I don't know about the reliability of wireless and if there's any lag with the current generation of wireless mice but from when I had one there was a lot of input lag. Even if there were no input lag, the added weight and hassle of batteries would be another annoyance. I would just pick up a wired one. I'm currently using a Razer Lachesis, never had issues with the wire either if you're worried about that.

mousebungee pretty much makes a wired mouse feel like a wireless. glides easy and no feeling of wire restriction ever.

A properly setup wireless mouse will be perfectly fine for gaming.

I've used a Logitech G7, MX700, MX1000, MX Revolution, etc..

Head down to a local best buy and give it a try. I can't imagine using a wired mouse these days.

I would highly reccommend the Razer Mamba over any other wireless mouse if you are using it for gaming as well. The response time is unparallelled by other wireless mice. It has 1ms response which is the same as a corded mouse. It's also unaffected by transmitter interference and can go pretty much all day (14hrs straight) without needing a charge. Play all day, place it on the dock, go to sleep, wake up and its ready. My friend has one he's been using for months and has had no complaints regarding performance.

for the insane price, the mamba better be as good as a wired in response time. i can't speak for the mamba but every wireless mouse i tried can't be depended on in fps games.

i tried the highly rated MX revolution and i went back to my G9 right away. it had response time and momentary erratic tracking in fps games.

I enjoy using a wireless mouse both for gaming and regular computing tasks. Most wireless mouses nowadays come with rechargeable batteries anyway, so that eliminates having to buy new ones all the time.

I prefer a wired mouse. I rarely have a problem with the cord getting in the way. I have tried wireless mice and some do have lag problems so for anyone saying the problem doesnt exist is not telling the whole truth. It depends on the model though. Some have a lag problem and some dont. Research carefully before buying a wireless mouse for gaming.

yea i use rev for desktop, g9 for gaming. its subtle but its there. you can play 30fps gaming and get away with it, but 60fps your sense of control is just enhanced that much more. its a bit like that with the wired vs wireless mouse. you can compensate for wireless and not get a bad score, but its never quite as good.
