First.. networking is my least knowledgeable area.
I have a router with wired speeds listed up to 100M.
My PC lan speed is rated up to 1000M.
My networked storage box is rated up to 1000M.

The pc lan, and network storage device are both wire-attached thru this router rated up to 100M.

So when I copy files from the pc to the networked storage drive, Im guessing Im getting a max 100M speed transfer due to the limit of the router @ 100M.

So.. if I were to get a router with a speed rated up to 1000M, the file copies from the pc to the networked drive would go faster?

Sound right?

Maybe, maybe not. You're likely hitting a bottleneck at your NAS box. Most of the consumer-grade boxes aren't very fast.

That said, a gigabit switch can be had for ~$25, so it's cheap to test.
