Wired routers and switches - D-Link any good?

I have a 3 year old Linksys BEFSR41 that recently began to give quirky performance... my computers would not access the internet properly until I hard reset the BEFSR41.

My VoIP would have some voice quality problems and my multiplayer gaming has become quirky as well. I suspect it is the router... I have an even older BEFSR41 but I am skeptical about using it as it is rather old.

How are D-Link wired routers nowadays? I read that their switches have built-in fans which is a good idea as my router gets fairly hot.

I do not use wireless connections (i could never get mine to work properly) and will not switch in the future.
