Looking for a set of decent wired desktop active speakers - around 300 for the pair. Unbalanced. Any suggestions? Was checking out the Yamaha's but the low end is weak according to the reviews.

Or these ones with ribbon tweeters

Funnily enough I just ordered these with ribbon tweeters about an hour ago. I was looking at the first ones you linked as well, but I wanted a simple unbalanced input that I didn't need an adapter for from my sound card. And the Adam Audios have an unbalanced RCA in

Err they have both balanced and unbalanced input.

Humm, seems they eliminated the unbalanced input on the krk ones.

I had just looked at the back panel photo. All I saw was a balanced input, an LCD screen, a volume knob, an on/off switch and the power port. I did not read the specs as the Adam Audio caught my eye in reviews.

I do love the Adam ribbon sound. Listened to A7X, just couldn't justify the price for my use.

Set up the T5V yesterday. These things absolutely rock. They are bigger depth-wise than I thought, I only checked the height and width, but they just fit. My 27" monitor looks much smaller now :)

Absolutely phenomenal sound for desktop use. I messed with EQ settings for them but they just sound perfect with just a flat EQ. Their smaller 5" speakers more designed for desktop use with some extra features look amazing but they are about twice the price, so not in my budget. From what I read the smaller 5" Adam's sound just faintly faintly better than the T5V's with instrument separation but you really gotta listen for it. Their extra features and compact size are the big draw.

My 27" monitor looked big next to my el cheapo 3.5" edifiers. Now it looks small

Got some little 1.5" rubber feet for the speakers on today. Definitely the bass sounds nice and tighter and no more vibrating the desk :)

The speakers are great but the ART tweeter is kind of dirrectional. So to sound best, you have to point them right at you, not at your belly. I would buy these and angle them both in the vertical plane and also orizontal. Kind of like this

Thanks. The tweeters right now are kind of just below shoulder level for me. I did an A/B test by sitting low in the chair so the tweeters were at ear level and did not notice a change in quality that would warrant raising them. Perhaps at this distance and the height they are at is ok in my setup.
