Basically just a commentary linking together various rumors that all point to the same conclusion. Nikon looks to be readying a larger format camera to be announced at next year's WPPI. What we expect from the sensor:

48mm x 48mm medium format
6380 x 6380 pixels (40.7MP, although Wired says 48MP)
Crop modes for portrait/landscape shooting without moving the camera
Can mount 35mm lenses with a 0.5x crop factor (50mm lens = 25mm)
Similar pixel density/noise performance to D3 sensor?

All with a price tag that will piss off a lot of companies that currently make 40MP+ MF cameras.

saw that rumor earlier today. not sure how much stock to put in it. a rangefinder? from nikon? granted, they made fine rangefinders back in the day but that doesn't sound like the focused nikon we've seen the last few years.

the silicon cost on the sensor alone would be astronomical. i'm almost certain GT200 isn't even 24x36. granted, yields are way better on sensors because the features are huge in comparison to microprocessors, but still.

then they'd need a whole new set of lenses, and they'd need to be larger than the mamiya 6/7 lenses because of the perpendicularity issue with sensors.

of course, we're talking about competing with $40,000 phase one and hasselblad products. so if nikon came in at half as much you could buy tons of glass.

it'd be more likely that the M in MX stands for leica M.

not to mention the image of the text looks fake as hell. the text isn't similar in print size or style, and apparently talks about groceries.
