All the computers on my office network, both wired and wireless, are able to access the internet OK as well as the 2 networked printers, but the the PC's on the wired router cannot see the ones on the wireless one (and vice versa). I cannot figure out why and would appreciate any and all help to sort this out.

Setup: Broadband cable modem--to--SMC7008ABR 8-port broadband router--to--Linksys WRT54GS 4-port wireless switch.

2 printers and 4 pcs are on the SMC7008ABR router
Up to 4 laptops on the WRT54GS

I sure wish someone made an acceptable 8-port wireless...

TIA!!
Cheers,

Are all the computers on the same domain or workgroup. Sorry for the simple question but I had to ask...

Do you actually have the Linksys set up as a wireless switch? The WRT54GS is a router and if you have not configured it to act as a simple switch/access point then it would be creating the results you are seeing now.

In order to set things up the way you want them, there are a couple of options:

1: Get rid of the SMC router completely, connect the Linksys to the cable modem and attach a basic switch to one of the Linksys' LAN ports to share connectivity with the wired devices.

or

2: Set up the Linksys to act as a switch and not a router. To do this, you need to log in to the Linksys' configuration page and disable the DHCP server function. Then, connect a LAN port on the Linksys (NOT the WAN/Internet port) to a LAN port on the SMC router so that all devices will be on the same physical network and will be able to communicate with each other.

Also, as jojiboy said, make sure everything is set to use the same Workgroup or Domain name.

To avoid two independent Networks.

Wireless Router as an Access Point - http://www.ezlan.net/router_AP.html

Successful Sharing involves some general consideration in Network settings, http://www.ezlan.net/sharing.html

As well as specific adjustment of each computer according to what it is allowed to be shared.

Thank you all for the quick and excellent assistance.

Fardringle's "disable the DHCP" did the trick. The links JackMDS supplied helped solve a couple other issues from there.

Cheers!
