Wired and connected - no indicator on router

Got a problem that is driving me nuts. The bulk of my connections are wired and I'm using a 8 port switch hung off my ATT Uverse box. One line is working, but there is not indication on my switch. Full speed access to internet and network but the green light on my switch shows nothing. the computer NIC card indicates it's working too.

Using a punch down RJ45 connection in a wall plate on one end and the T568B convention on the RJ45 connector I put on the other end.

I like to keep an eye on my network and I'd like to figure this one out.

Your description is a bit confusing.... 'one line is working, but there is not indication on my switch'... are you saying that the switch doesn't report a link on the port and the computer attached to that port still has network access?

In general if the switch port isn't lighting up when the cable is plugged into both the computer and switch you have a cabling problem or a bad port on the switch.

It's generally a terrible idea to crimp on your own RJ-45 connectors simply because it's really hard to get a proper connection using the hand held tools. You should be using solid core cabling attached to punch down jacks(either a patch panel or keystone jack) and then store bought/factory made stranded patch cables to go from wall <-> switch and from wall <-> PC. The sticky in this forum has lots of tips on how to properly lay cables.
