Figured I'd start a new thread specific to this. The PS3 is connected to a component switch box, then to a receiver, then to TV. This TV ONLY ACCEPTS 480i/p and 1080i on it's component inputs, 8 year old HDTV. It's a dual scan CRT projection. I've set the PS3 to output 480i/p and 1080i only.
When I start Wipeout the quick intro plays but as soon as the game goes into the main screen I lose sync and get no picture, audio is there. If I force the PS3 to 480i/p only all is good. My only guess is the game is trying to output 1080i/120 (120 interlaced fields) since it wants to run at 1080p/60 frames.
I'll probably call and report it and maybe a fix will be released but wanted to know the best way to get attention to the matter and where to call. I guess PS support would be a start. I'll try to remove the receiver and switch to get that out of the way to confirm.
-edit-
You have got to be kidding me. Either I'm an idiot or my PS3 doesn't support analog HD output (or most likely both
). The only outputs on the back are "multi-out" and HDMI. Multi-out only allows 480. So pissed off right now.
