Wiping a HDD from a dead computer?

My netbook died and someone offered to buy it for 100 bucks. I'm more than willing to do this deal, but I want to wipe the disk before I sell it.

So how do I erase my disk?

Is there a way to remove the disk and connect it to my desktop and format from there? What do I need to do that?

Or can I just rub magnets all over my netbook?
