I just got off the phone with windshield glass replacement company and they are going to repair my windshield but recommended I also at the same time replace my wiper blades, they stated I could purchase two Hydrogard wiper blades at $10.00 each to be replaced at the same time as the window repair....

Anyone here ever used that brand? are they worth the $10.00 a blade? normally I would spend marginally more say $13-$15 or so a blade and never replace for a year but they stated these were on sale at 10% discount...

amazon shows no real reviews so im skeptical, in any event I have until the technician shows up to refuse the installation yet still get the glass fixed....

So deal or no deal? should I get the blades?

I just replaced my wiper blades last week. I methodically looked at all the options on Amazon and researched the features of each brand of blade (I was looking primarily at the same type of blade you linked from hydroguard). After I spent a few hours trying to make up my mind, I picked the Bosch Clear Advantage blades.

Did I pick them because of my research? No. It boiled down to the fact that they are the #1 rated wiper blade of everything sold on amazon, with over 550 reviews. It looked to me like that specific type of wiper blade is pretty much the same across all brands for features.

I wouldn't get something with no reviews unless it was one-of-a-kind. With a half-dozen different blades from other brands that DO have an established review base, I don't think it's worth it.

More in-line answer to your question: I wouldn't get them. I'd get another established brand and install them myself. It's not difficult at all.

Hydrogard is Safelite's brand of windshield wipers, which explains why they want to sell them to you (link). They also offer Bosch blades according to their FAQ:

Do you offer wiper blades?
Yes, we offer quality Auto Edge Hydrogard® windshield wipers or Bosch Evolution™ flat blades, for an additional cost at the time of service. We install them for free when we repair or replace your glass.

I wasn't able to find any reviews on the Hyrogard brand, so that would make me a little leery. I'm sure they're "fine", but I'm personally inclined to pony up the cash for quality blades.

They look like they're made by the same people who make the Rain-X ones. Almost identical blades. I know the Rain-X ones are rubbish. Build quality on them isn't very good.

No idea. I did however have a bad experience with my current Rain-X latitudes. The first set I got a few years ago were fucking amazing. The current set I have are worthless POS. Somewhere inbetween I got some Valeos (900's? I don't recall) and they were GARBAGE. (I actually felt like retrieving the latitudes I had thrown in the garbage and putting those back on; that's how bad they were)

Anyway, I'm probably going to try Bosch this time around...

To your point, no I have never heard of that brand. I wouldn't bother. No review - no buy.

Thanks for the input guys, the repair man himself who fixed my windshield actually said he wouldn't buy them either.... so I didn't.... I appreciated his honesty. He said what I already had on my car was better than what they offered, I had some nice Trico blades I got on sale about 6-8 months back he said I don't even need to bother to replace them yet...
