Winzip self-extractor stuck

I downloaded a program a few months ago and it was a self-extracting
program, no big deal seen a ton of them. Well some how this one was
different because I cannot get rid of it. Every self-extracting program I
try to install now trys to install the old one instead. I have searched my
drives high and low and cannot find where this file is, I have looked in the
registry and cannot find anything in there. Does anyone have any ideas?

Thats a little confusing by that description..could you be a little more specific. Are you saying that Winzip will not upgrade to the newer version?

Sorry for explaining it so poorly but I have now fixed it. Some how the winzip self-extractor (different than the winzip program) was always looking at one file, I finally found the file and moved it, and now everything seems to work again.
