can't get rid of Mouse Acceleration in half-life games!!!

This is annoying to no end, and practically makes it unplayable. I was wondering if maybe he had fixed it or perhaps somebody else has a remedy?

I'm using just a standard 2-button ball mouse - no drivers to install whatsoever.

I Have mouse accel turned off in windows - "Enhance Pointer Precision" = unchecked
 
1) Sounds more like a Half-Life problem than a WinXP problem.
2) General Hardware isn't the place for software questions (and usually the moderators will eventually lock mis-posts)
3) There is most likely an option in the game itself to accelerate the mouse, it's usually labelled mouse precision or something like that, in the control setup.
