Hi
WinXP will not shut down, just restarts .
befor it restarts i see a blue screen stating
" windows has a problem........"
then it disappears befor i can read the information
and then it resarts

I have tried pressing the "Pause" key : the "Esc" key
but it will not stop the blue screen so that i can read it

if i could read the error data and codes i could probally fix it
also when i get to the " Turn of Computer " screen
the "standby" button is grey and will not function.

the two changes that i made to the system were
1 deleted and reinstalled Antivirus ( spybot removed something it needed )
( my ISP guy had me use "Regseeker App" to remove program fragments after uninstall and delete them. )
2 i installed a missing "DLL" file for my mouse (fancy Logitech mouse )
it always said my hardware didn't install correctly, insert disk etc

anyway

can you :frown:tell me how to stop a screen long enough to read it ?

Thanks ..........Rick

Also, look in your Event Viewer. Open up Control Panel. Click on Administrative Tools. Look in the System section, and the Application section for Red and Yellow icons. Red are errors...yellow are warnings. Report back what the Red icons say. The log is kept in cumulative fashion. The most recent entries are at the top.

If you boot in safe mode, can you shut down normally?

If you uninstall the mouse drivers completely, can you shut down normally?
