What a pain. Have an abit nf7s mbw/amd2600 mobilecpu. Trying to install xp on a hitch.160 sata dr . I've loaded the sata drs, formated the dr 3 times, checked the bios to make sure sata enabled both chip and rom. Still xp says it can't find hd installed on machine.
I know other people have had the same prob w/ diff resolves.
I'm getting a migrain over this red headed step child.
Does anyone have a clue of what I have to do to get this thing to work w/me?

any help would be appreciated

Are you loading the driver by hitting the "f6" key when prompted at the very beggining of windows setup? I have seen this problem alot, when you don't hit the "f6" key it will not properly load the disk drivers, even though it appears to.

I had the same problem when I got distracted and kept missing the f6 key option 🙂
Once I finally paid attention and hit f6 when it asked, everything worked fine.

Just a few things to check.

1. Do you have the latest BIOS installed for your NF7-S?
2. Are you using the latest SATA drivers?
3. Make sure you disconnect all your other drives (except for your CD/DVD-ROM, of course). This will ensure that Windows maps your SATA drive to C:.

I have done all the above, even got it to format the drive a few times, Checked post,no dr on it other than floppy and cd, Same in bios , I've tried 3 sata drs this hitc and two sams. Same story . hit f6 loads drivers than windows wants to partition and format no prob . After format same msg windows can't find a hd on system. I thought maybe the hd was def but this happens to all the drs I 've tried. The mb is brand new latest bios and drs.
There has got to be a solution I'm not giving up I won't let this thing beat me.
Thanks for your input ,keep looking
