here in the UK a news program was on and on it was said that if you are using a (illegal ver ) of windows XP then when u went to the update site something would be d/led to yer PC and the feds and CID could track you and also yer PC would stop working correctly?

this is because MS has lost soooo much money on its release because of hackers and crackers.

can anyone tell me if this is true so that i may sit here and laugh at you for getting winxp illegally and cracking it..

this BTW is for the sole purpose and giving me a giggle because i am bored.... lol

apart from that anyone else noticed that the MS update site dont work correctly? sometimes it shows me the updates yet when i press d/l it freaking hangs?

weird this has happened to me at work and at home (before you ask @ work corperate ver @ home bossman baught me a copy cus i moaned i couldnt afford it lol and he wanted me to be able to support the new OS so i got a ver of winxp pro for free well the boss bought it for me )


thats all i wish to know at this point
 
I doubt that that is even possible...thats called Invasion of privacy and they are already in enuf problems dealin with the intrusiveness of .NET and Windows Product Activation. Besides it might just be a problem with ur site. If u want u can go to the Corp. Download site. forgot the link but u can download the stuff there. Like i said its very unlikely that they would for something upon u with out our knowledge. and try not to post stuff that contains just stirs up FUD ( FEAR UNCERTAINTY and DOUBT)

this information was gained from a news broadcast on one of our many (5) television stations ...

and all i wanted to know is was it or can i be true (i thought the thing about privacy) but the comments in my thread were what they said sooo where did they get the information from i know news and media is corrupt but hey they must have this information even if the truth is slightly bent lol

soory again but i have the windows corp update site addy and it only gives me updates for other OS nothing for winxp

as for my PC it do gimme updates for xp but like i said it hangs and this hapens at work as well as at home and i want that new driver for me voddooo card lol

anything else on the site can stay lol

It would really be illegal for M$ to get info from your computer without your knowledge. Even if they did get info, it wouldn't be admissible in court due to the fact that they got it illegally.
