WinXP Tune Up Applications (Please look!)

Hey everyone, I recently downloaded a windows XP tune up application named WINXP tweaker and had it enable the reccomended settings. I don't really know much about what any of the settings do, but the idea is to imrpove performance. I got to thinking and I wonder, microsoft is making billions selling IDEAS. They think up a new product, or a new way of doing something, slap a $400 price tag on it and send it out worldwide. How is it that these software applications imrpove performance? Microsoft hires intelligent people who spend thier whole day finding ways to imrpove efficiency, but a third party application has 50 options to boost performance?

Please explain, also- what is the best performance enhancing tune up (tweaking) program?

The performance options that work for you might not work for me. What works for me, might not work for you. They probably go with a safer setup that will work for most people, and let the tweakers tweak.

I don't tweak. 😛

the best tools to use to "tweak xp" is XP
programs that tweak most of the time s--k

the settings you need are either visible in xp or in the registry
learn what they do before changing them

I find it funny when looking at some of these "tweaking" tools
where they have a setting that is already easily found in XP

I think it's funny when someone "tweaks" something without a decent understanding of what they are doing. 😛
