Hello all, here is my problem.

I am using winXP on my primary PC, system was working fine, no changes, etc and one day when I powered on my monitor i had a black screen. I rebooted the system, PC posted, windows logo came up then left. heard my monitor change resolution and then the PC just hung on a black screen however my monitor does not go into standby. Same issue happened in safe mode. I attempted a repair installation, and the same issue occurs.

Help me fix my PC! lol

Do you see the boot screen?
Can you get into BIOS?
Can you boot to Ubuntu?
If you can do all of those then it is Windows that is borked if not then it is PC that needs help.

When you attempted the repair installation, was the installation itself successful, or did Windows fail to install?

Sounds like system file corruption to me.

Checkdisk ftw.

If that doesn't work: A) Run a more extensive data recover program B) Reinstall

You may want to grab a copy of Ubuntu and copy your contents off to another drive and reintall windows.

Something may have happened to cause your system to function like this. A windows update maybe?

If you can't get to safe mode and you can't do a repair than I would (for the sake of time) reinstall.
