I have WindowsXP Pro running on my laptop, but there is no Speed-Step aplet. I can see an approximation of the computer's speed from the system properties dialog that shows what speed I was running at when the computer started, & this helped me identify that speed step was operating (Start unplugged & start plugged in). Intel's CPU ID program would tell me the same. I assumed that WinXP would include SpeedStep support built in. However, it doesn't so I am forced to try & download the Win2K one. I can't get it from my notebook's manufaturer, because the program claims it "Isn't liscenced to run on WindowsXP" before the installer even unpacks it's self. A visit to Intel's site renders nothing more useful than the CPU ID program. Where on earth can I download the speed-step aplet?! I'm sure Intel doesn't expect all WinXP systems to have XP pre installed! In fact, this very system came with the "Free upgrade to XP" coupon. ow can I regain my speedstep support?
