WinXP SP2 user profiles disappearing

Greetings,

Has anyone ever run into an issue where a WinXP user profile simply disappears. The profile itself is still in "Documents and Settings", but all the documents appear to have been swallowed. Sound like a virus you've heard of? We have a user experiencing this and I'm stumped.
