WinXP SP2: 56k modem connects as 115k??

When i was using my Win98 laptop, i get the true connect speeds. ie: 52k

i'm now using WinXP Sp2, and i always get 115k.

How to get the true speed to be listed?

Usually, you have to install the manufacturer's driver instead of using the built in windows version.

add "&W2" to the extra AT commands as part of the dialing string

tried that. now winXP is giving me a hardware error when i try to dial. i removed the &w2, and works again.

Anyother tips to getting WinXP to report correct connect speed?
