Suppose I share a folder on my computer for others on the network to access, they should be still be able to access the files irrespective of the fact whether I am logged in or not right? For some reason others in my workgroup cannot see the files. Sometimes it pings sometimes it doesn't. I'm using a crossover cable. Both systems have WinXP and both are in the same workgroup. I haven't run any network setup wizard or anything. Just shared them. They work sometimes sometimes they wont...what could be the problem?

Thanks

Raj

No actually I haven't done anything to any network settings. All I have done is put both the computers in Workgroup and started sharing. What am I supposed to do exactly? I've seen practically networked and I dont see entering any manual address into the network settings box. and btw, why is TCP/IP required? All I want is files and print sharing.

Thanks
