WinXP service going whack!

Why would a service take up 99% of cpu all the time? It is my canon multipass printer service which is called "mpservic.exe" and it is taking 99% of cpu and slowing my whole system down. I already tried setting different priorities.

Is it a service specifically written for WindowsXP? Perhaps you could try and download the latest WinXP driver from Canon? If not, do you really need that service? Try and disable it and see if you can still print ok.
