WinXP resume capability.

I'm trying to download the latest audigy driver from compaq site but my isp is currently upgrading their services now so I keep disconnected every 1-2 hours. I'm using 384k adsl so I need around 2-3 hours to download the whole driver (377MB). I already failed 4 times and I would like to know that does winxp has this resume capability?

No. Resume is a function of either FTP software, and/or the FTP you are downloading from.

Grab something like GoZilla or whatever to assist with your download, then you can get rid of it later.

it's not safe to use download manager (gozilla/download accelerator) to download our driver right? cause they like to download from diff. sources..and combine them together later, which isn't good for a driver cause it might mess up the driver file, am i right?

yes, i think i heard that before that it isnt good to break the driver into pieces and then dl it, putting it back together when it gets to u. I suggest getting software like download accelerator from the internet and using it to give u the resume feature, but before u dl, go to the options and set the number of connections it creates to only 1 (i believe it gives u the option of setting speed to several different settings like "slow" for 1 connection and "super acceleration" for 7 connections), that way, the dl packets will come to your computer in sequential order.

It's no big deal. Just do it.

Andy Hui says "Not necessarily. You can set it so that it doesn't grab from multiple sources. These programs are also smart enough to compare sources correctly so that they won't get bits and pieces of different files from all over the place."

Hope it helps 🙂

Why would a driver file for instance, be any different than any file(s), say for instance DX9 SDK? Wouldn't that potentially cause a bunch of grief comparatively speaking? Or how about Visual Studio SP2? If you can't trust it for something, how can you trust it for anything? I've downloaded numerous files, SDK's SP's, and I've had a corrupt download or two, and simply re-download again, but are you saying that some of my files may be corrupt, but install anyway? or What?
