When i try to turn it off, it displays the following message:

"Share was created for administrative purposes only. Sharing will be re-enabled when Server is stopped or restarted or when the computer is rebooted"

Anyone wanna tell me what the hell this is and how to get rid of it?

yeah, i *think* its becuase you are signed on as admin-- try setting up a user without admin priveledges and it should be normal.

It should also be a reg hack. In NT 4.0 you could kill the administrative shares through the registry...

If the share name starts with $, this is normal. it shouldn't be visible to the outside world as a share. Some programs require the drive to be shared. Don't ask me why...it just does :)

If the share name ends with a $ then it's a hidden share.
