WinXP Pro only showing files from first floppy

I'm visiting parents house so i dont have my hardware, so i don't have another floppy to test with. I've never seen this before so I'm not sure if this goes in general hardware or software.

New sony floppy from Googlegear, which replaced a drive that was completely dead.

In WinXP pro, after reboot the first floppy reads fine, all subsequent disks report the contents of that first floppy. The busy light will come on, but the disk isn't spinning.

any RMA avoiding help would be greatly appreciated, plus it saves me another trip up here

I have seen the exact problem before and it was not the drive. Don't remember what the issue was other then the fix was fairly simiply. Just do some general searching on the problem.

Try going into the BIOS of the computer and changing the master drives to Hard Drive 0, then CD-ROm, then Floppy. This way the computer will boot from these drives in the order you set them in. This should fix the problem, but then again I'm kinda new at all this kinda stuff.

found the problem, bad cable. i found my parents old 486 in the attic and swapped cables, worked like a charm. the old drive was still super dead though. thanks for the feedback.
